"Good for 5¢ in trade" Coins were in short supply in the West. People would cut a silver dollar into 8 pie-shaped "bits" to make change. In another approach, saloons and merchants minted their own stamped tokens to promote business and extend credit. Be careful, though - tokens were only good at the merchant named, and the Louvre has been out of business for more than a century. Dimensions : 1" diameter
